Home Staging Tips
Are you planning on listing your home for sale in the near future? There are home staging strategies that are proven to attract the attention of buyers in a positive way, which helps to command a higher sale price. Here are just a few of those:
Declutter and Create Space
Rooms with too much furniture or household items make those rooms look smaller. Remove as many items as you can to create more floor space. Arrange furniture so you can easily move around without angling your body. Declutter, pack away excess items now, and store them out of the way, such as in the unfinished side of the basement, attic, etc.
Deep Clean
Do a deep cleaning of your home, especially in the kitchen and bathrooms. Some other areas that get very dirty and are often forgotten are air vent covers, baseboards, and light fixtures. The cleaner the home, the more it looks like you took care of your home.
Two-Thirds Rule
Use the two-thirds rule in your kitchen. Remove two-thirds of the items on your countertops. Only the eye-pleasing essentials should remain. The more open counterspace you have, the larger your countertops look to the average buyer.
Paint the Walls
Walls that that are dirty and scuffed make your home look older, dated, and more worn. That could drive potential buyers to seek out homes that look newer and more updated. Paint your walls in lighter neutral colors also. Neutral colors appeal to a wider variety of decorating schemes and preferences, while lighter colors make rooms appear larger.
Make Minor Repairs
Walk through and look for easy fixes like small holes in the walls, broken electrical outlets, sealing cracks around windows and doors, replacing caulking around the bathtub, etc. Also, make sure all light bulbs work and are the same temperature color.
Front Facelift
In the front, make sure your home, yard, porch, and landscaping look amazing! The buyer's first impression if formed when they first arrive, and homes that look neglected on the outside will be viewed with more intense scrutiny on the inside.
